SAINT PETER, Minn. – Gustavus gymnasts Sam Ardy (Sr., Thousand, Oaks, Calif.), Amanda Malo (Sr., Greenwood, Minn.), and Brooke Merila (Fy., St. Michael, Minn.) are set to compete at the NCGA Championship on Saturday. The national meet begins at 4 p.m. at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
All three Gusties will be competing for the all-around individual title. Six institutions will compete for the team championship – UW-Whitewater, UW-Oshkosh, UW-Stout, Ithaca, Brockport, and SUNY Cortland.
Ardy is making her third appearance at the national meet after taking 16th on the bars last season and fifth on the bars in 2017 to earn All-America status. This season in the all-around, Ardy has a season-high of 37.850. Her individual event season-bests are 9.475 on vault, 9.600 on bars, 9.450 on beam, and 9.600 on floor.
Malo is making her second appearance at the NCGA Championship. She achieved All-America honors last season in the all-around with a sixth-place finish. Her highest score in the all-around this season is 37.650 and her individual season-bests are 9.475 on vault, 9.500 on bars, 9.225 on beam, and 9.750 on floor.
Merila has earned an invitation to the national meet after an impressive rookie season. Her high in the all-around is 36.775, while her individual event bests are 9.350 on vault, 9.300 on bars, 9.225 in beam, and 9.625 on floor.
