Men’s Tennis Goes 1-2 at Stag-Hen Invitational Posted on March 16th, 2019 by

CLAREMONT, POMONA, Calif. – The No. 15-ranked Gustavus men’s tennis team competed at the Stag-Hen Invitational on Friday and Saturday, which featured a field eight nationally ranked teams. The Gusties went 1-2 in the tournament, winning the seventh place match 8-1 over No. 31 Swarthmore on Saturday after losing to No. 12 Sewanee 5-4 and No. 26 Skidmore 6-3 on Friday.

“The guys put together a great effort today,” Head Coach Tommy Valentini said. “We played hard and competed well on Friday and just didn’t get the results to go our way. Coming off a few tough results on Friday of the Stag-Hen, one of the most challenging days in college tennis, the guys responded extremely well today. The energy was positive and we executed our plan well in doubles. The singles was a grind, but the guys stuck together and stayed positive and played some gutsy tennis. We’re grateful to come away with a good result today, and feel like we took another step forward with the experience we gained at the Stag-Hen.”
