BOSTON – Gustavus throwing specialist Michael Hensch (Sr., North Branch, Minn.) took 11th in the shot put Saturday at the NCAA Division III Men’s Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Hensch’s second toss of 52-6.5 was his top mark after a first toss of 51-0.75 and a third throw of 51-5.0. He missed the finals by 2-3.75.

“Mike is such a low key guy that you are never truly sure of what he is thinking, but I do know he always wants to perform his best and the fact he was not able to “pop” one today and make finals will make him expect more of himself outdoors,” Head Coach Dale Bahr said. “We are very proud of what Mike has done throughout his indoor career. Now the focus turns to the outdoor season where he has the opportunity to compete in four events.”

The indoor season is now complete and the Gusties begin the outdoor season April 6 at the Hamline Invite.
