SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s hockey team took on Augsburg on Friday night and lost by a score of 3-0. With the loss the Gusties fall to 9-5-2 while the Auggies move to 8-6-2.
The Auggies started strong when they scored 1:58 into the contest to take an early 1-0 lead. The game went scoreless for just over 20 minutes until Augsburg scored again at the 2:28 mark of the second period. The Gusties had a few chances in the third period on a power play but the Auggies came into the contest 48-of-53 on the penalty and built on it going a perfect 7-of-7 in tonight’s contest. Augsburg added a late empty net goal to take the three goal lead that they held onto for the victory.
In the contest Augsburg outshot Gustavus 27-23. Amanda DiNella made the start in net for the Gusties, making 25 saves while allowing the two goals.
The two teams will be back in action tomorrow night in Minneapolis for a 7 p.m. contest.
