SAINT PAUL, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s track & field team Friday claimed second place at Macalester’s Vanessa Seljeskog Classic, totaling 63 points. Bethel won the meet with 70 points and Macalester took third at 37. The Gusties took home six first place finishes along with eight second place finishes.

“We didn’t show the depth to fill in behind our top finishers, but at the same time it’s good to see those guys go out and compete hard,” Head Coach Dale Bahr said. “The team is young and we are trying to fill in some gaps of smaller recruiting classes and we’ll reap more of those benefits in a year or two. With that said, we are seeing a lot of impressive performances from our younger guys so it’s good to build confidence in these early, small meets, but we have much more competition ahead of us so we have to keep grinding.”
