SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s basketball will host Augsburg on Monday night in a 7 p.m. contest. The Gusties enter the contest 5-7 overall with a 2-5 MIAC record while the Auggies are 8-3 with a 4-2 conference mark.

THE SERIES

Monday’s game marks the 180th meeting between Gustavus and Augsburg on the hardwood, with the Gusties holding a 108-71 advantage in the all-time series. The last time the two teams met on Jan. 17, 2018, Augsburg took home a 90-59 victory in Saint Peter.

SCOUTING THE GUSTIES

The Gusties are coming off a 69-61 victory over Carleton on Saturday. The Gusties had a solid effort from underclassmen as Nolan Malo, Isaac Douglas, and Logan Rezac all put up double digits in the win. Senior Riley Sharbono leads all scorers on the season averaging 13.5 points per game on 44.8 percent shooting. Malo is shooting 57.4 percent from the field en route to 11.9 points per game and a team leading 5.5 rebounds. As a team the Gusties are shooting 46.5 percent from the field which ranks third in the MIAC.

SCOUTING THE AUGGIES

After a two game losing skid, the Auggies got back in the win column on Saturday when they took down Saint Mary’s by a score of 88-56. The Auggies are led by Booker Coplin, who ranks 10th in all of Division III in scoring with 24.9 points per game. He also leads the team in rebounding at 8.8 per game and is tied for the teams assist lead at 3.8 per game. Kevin McKiernan averages 11.9 points per game, and is the only other Auggie averaging double figures. As a team, the Auggies are second in the MIAC in three point shooting, connecting on the deep ball at a 40.9 percent clip.
