SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s hockey team suffered a second consecutive 1-0 loss, this time to UW-River Falls on Saturday night, dropping to 5-9-1 overall.

After a scoreless first period that saw the Falcons outshoot the Gusties 14-9, River Falls scored what proved to be the game-winner with 2:22 remaining in the second period. The goal was netted on a two-on-one breakaway.

The Gusties outshot the Falcons 12-6 in the third period and sacrificed an empty net for the extra attacker in the final minute, but were unable to net the equalizer.

Robbie Goor (So., Anoka, Minn.) took the loss in goal after making 30 saves. The Falcons edged the Gusties 31-28 in shots.

The Gusties continued to impress on the penalty kill, not allowing a goal in three chances for the Falcons, but conversely did not convert on their lone power play.

Gustavus now returns to MIAC play for the remainder of the season, starting next weekend with a series against St. Thomas. Friday night’s game begins at 7:05 p.m. in Saint Peter.
