Finch Named D3football.com All-West Region First Team

D3football.com released its All-West Region Teams on Tuesday morning and Gustavus junior tight end Brayton Finch (Mount Morris, Ill.) is named to the First Team Offense. Finch is the first Gustie football player to be named All-West First Team since wide receiver Matthew Boyce in 2015.

SAINT PETER, Minn. – D3football.com released its All-West Region Teams on Tuesday morning and Gustavus junior tight end Brayton Finch (Mount Morris, Ill.) is named to the First Team Offense. Finch is the first Gustie football player to be named All-West First Team since wide receiver Matthew Boyce in 2015.

As the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s top tight end, Finch accumulated 533 all-purpose yards as a dual threat runner and receiver. Finch rushed 47 times for 171 yards and three touchdowns, and caught 39 passes for 362 yards and five touchdowns. The Mount Morris native posted three games with more than 100 all-purpose yards and caught at least one pass in every game this season. Finch’s highest offensive production came in the second game of the season as he rushed 16 times for 75 yards and caught six passes for 51 yards and a touchdown.

Finch also served as the team’s punter and handled kickoffs. He had 43 punts, averaging 33.2 yards per punt, a long of 64, and 11 inside the 20-yard line. On kickoffs, he had 46 kicks for 2,393 yards with eight touchbacks and an average of 52.0 yards.
