SAINT PETER, Minn. – After nearly two weeks away from competition, the Gustavus men’s hockey team returns to the ice this weekend for a home-home MIAC series against Bethel. Friday’s game in Blaine, Minn. starts at 7 p.m. and Saturday’s game in Saint Peter begins at 7:05 p.m. The Gusties enter the series 3-4-1 overall and 1-2-1 in the MIAC, while the Royals are 0-9-1 overall and 0-3-1 in the league.

SCOUTING THE GUSTIES
Through eight games this season, Gustavus has shown it likes to put the puck on goal, leading the MIAC with 36.3 shots per game. The Gusties average 2.38 goals per game, which ranks fifth in the league, and allow 2.32 goals. They have the second-best power play in the conference, converting 20.7 percent on the man advantage. The Gusties also have the second-best penalty kill in the league, killing off 92.3 percent of opponent’s power plays. Caleb Anderson leads the team with seven points on four goals and three assists. Evan Erickson is next with six points on two goals and four assists. Will LeNeave leads the team with five assists. Chris Amsden has seen the most time in goal with five starts, a 2.34 goals against average, and a .904 save percentage.
SCOUTING THE ROYALS
The Royals have had a tough start to their season, losing nine of ten, most recently losing to Concordia University 9-2 last Saturday. The Royals are last in the MIAC in goals per game (1.5) and goals allowed (5.55) and have converting on just 1-of-42 power play opportunities. Josiah Roen leads the offense with seven points on two goals and five assists. Olof Djurberg has seen the most time between the pipes in a three-goalie rotation. He’s made five starts with a 5.63 goals against average and a .848 save percentage.
