At the MIAC Championships on Oct. 27th, the Gusties saw a lot of good times by both the men’s and women’s teams and will look to build on them at the regional. For their consistent pack running at the MIAC Championships, the Gustavus women have found themselves back into the Central Region rankings at No. 9.
At the MIAC Championships, the women stuck together and ran well as they had five runners place from 21st to 38th. Tierney Winter (Jr., Waterville, Minn.) led the way finishing in 21st while Gabriela Passmore (Jr., Mapleton, Minn.), Lotus Schifsky (Sr., Prescott, Wis.), Iliana Ramon (Fy., Fairmont, Minn.), and Kourtney Kulseth (So., New Richland, Minn.) all finished in the top 38.
On the men’s side, Gustavus saw their lone all-conference runner in Andrew Stumbo (So., Boone, Iowa), who finished in 15th place and received all-conference honors for the second consecutive year. The Gusties saw four freshman come in their top five which was a very good sign as Ben Wicklund (Fy., Marine on St. Croix, Minn.), Jack Degonda (Fy., Marine on St. Croix, Minn.), and Garet Grant (Fy., Winona, Minn.) all finished inside the top 50 to help pace the Gusties. Noah Johnson (Fy., Stillwater, Minn.) rounded out the Gustavus top five as he finished in 52nd place.
The women’s race will begin at 11 a.m. while the men will start at noon.
