SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Gustavus men’s and women’s swimming and diving team sent part of its roster to Morningside College as part of its split squad meet on Saturday.
In similar fashion to the Luther meet, the Gusties saw a ton of success with a large number of first place finishers.
On the women’s side the Gusties had the first place finisher in all nine events. Those winners are:
- 200 yard free (2:07.47) – Rachel Thate (Jr., North Mankato, Minn.)
- 1000 yard free (11:27.99) – Allie Mayfield (Jr., Two Harbors, Minn.)
- 50 yard free (26.06) – Alyssa Kohorst (So., Sauk Centre, Minn.)
- 200 yard IM (2:24.76) – Katherine Brostrom (So., Cumming, Ga.)
- 100 yard butterfly (1:04.56) – Abby Schammel (Fy., Austin, Minn.)
- 100 yard free (57.63) – Kohorst
- 100 yard backstroke (1:06.16) – Brostrom
- 500 yard freestyle (5:37.82) – Mayfield
- 100 yard breaststroke (1:11.57) – Ella Benoit (Fy., Rice, Minn.)
For the men, the Gusties had three individual race winners with the winners being:
- 200 yard free (1:50.56) – Thomas Fitzloff (So., Mankato, Minn.)
- 1000 yard free (10:34.47) – Ryan Kawlewski (Fy., Sauk Rapids, Minn.)
- 100 yard free (49.65) – Fitzloff
In the relays, the Gusties took home three of the four relays to go along with the individual race winners:
- Women’s 200 yard medley (1:59.35)
- Women’s 200 yard freestyle (1:47.63)
- Men’s 200 yard freestyle (1:30.16)
