BECKER, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s golf team concluded play at the MIAC Championship in Becker today with a third place finish. Carleton convincingly won the competition by having the top five golfers in the event.
The Gusties shot their best score of the tournament on day three with a total of 317. Emily Kratz (Fy., Edina, Minn.) led the Gusties on day three by shooting a 78, while Morgan Bleyhl (Jr., Elk River, Minn.) was right behind her with a 79 that helped propel her to an 11th place finish in the event. First-years Sydney Regalado (Fy., Rosemount, Minn.) and Erin Ericson (Fy., Onalaska, Wis.) played well on the day both posting scores of 80. Ellie Brandt (Sr., Wayzata, Minn.) finished the event with an 83 that helped her lead the Gusties overall in the Championship with an eighth place finish.
On the efforts, head coach Scott Moe said, “I was really proud of the way that we continued to improve our scores each day. Our goal was to post a good number hoping to climb the leaderboard and we fell just one short of second, but we gave a great effort. I thought that our first years fared well in their first conference championship and to have three first years and finish third is a big feat. Our seniors provided great leadership and battled really hard for us.”
The Gusties fall season has now concluded and they will resume play again this spring looking to build off their fall performances.
