Men’s Soccer Outlasts Wartburg 2-1 in Overtime

After suffering a shutout loss Friday night, the Gustavus men’s soccer team rebounded Sunday night with a 2-1 overtime victory at Wartburg. Matt Gibbons (So., Minneapolis, Minn.) scored the game-winning goal in the fifth minute of the extra period on a free kick to move the Gusties to 3-1 overall.

Volleyball Wins Loras Invite, Defeats No. 14 Northwestern and Loras

The No. 9 Gustavus volleyball team completed a perfect 4-0 run at the Loras Invitational on Saturday, defeating No. 14 Northwestern-St. Paul in five sets followed by a 3-1 win over host Loras to improve to 7-1 overall. The Gusties won their first two matches at the invitational on Friday night as well.

Football Falters Late, Drops Home Opener to UW-Stout in Overtime 24-23

Despite holding a 17-0 lead though 43 minutes of play Saturday, the Gustavus football team suffered a deflating 24-23 overtime loss to UW-Stout in the home opener. The Blue Devils scored the game-tying touchdown with eight seconds remaining in regulation, scored a touchdown on their first overtime possession, and blocked the would-be game-tying extra point to complete the improbable comeback.

Women’s Golf in Sixth at Wartburg Invite

The women's golf team traveled to Waverly, Iowa to take part in the Wartburg Women's Fall Invite on Saturday.

The Gustavus women's soccer team hosted Nebraska Wesleyan in the 2nd annual team Trina game and the Gusties came away with a 1-0 victory.

The Gustavus men’s soccer team suffered its first setback of the season in a 3-0 loss Friday night at Luther. The Gusties move to 2-1 overall, while the Norse improve to 4-0.

Volleyball Starts Loras Invite with Pair of Wins, Hanson Joins 1,000-Kill Club

The No. 9-ranked Gustavus volleyball team started the Loras Invitational with a pair of wins Friday. The Gusties dropped only the second frame against Dominican and rallied to win in four sets, followed by a shutout victory over Dubuque, improving to 5-1 overall. With 20 kills on the day, Lauren Hanson (Sr., Redwood Falls, Minn.) became the 14th member of Gustavus’s 1,000-kill club.

One Year After Cancer Diagnosis, Trina Rinke is back on the Soccer Pitch

Last summer, Gustavus women's soccer senior Trina Rinke (Waconia, Minn.) received shocking news that would change the course of her life. Rinke was diagnosed with ovarian cancer on July 5, 2017, and underwent surgery just five days later to remove cancerous tumors. Less than a year later, Rinke is back on the field for the Gusties and has already made her way onto the field in a regular season game.
