BECKER, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s golf team improved on their day one score by eight strokes and managed to nudge their way into third place in the process. Carleton leads the event with a 602, which is a new record for lowest two-day score in a MIAC Championship.

The Gusties were led on Sunday by Morgan Bleyhl (Jr., Elk River, Minn.) who posted a 79. Ellie Brandt (Sr., Wayzata, Minn.) had another solid day for the Gusties by posting an 80 which places her in seventh overall on the event. First-years Emily Kratz (Fy., Edina, Minn.) and Sydney Regalado (Fy., Rosemount, Minn.) rounded out the Gustavus top four by both shooting an 82.

On the days results, head coach Scott Moe said, “We struggled a bit out of the blocks today but did a decent job of righting the ship midway through the round. I have a great feeling about tomorrow, we just have to stay patient and avoid big numbers. I know we can get good scores together for our final round and when we do, I think we’ll like where we end up.”

The Gustie will start the final round of the MIAC Championship tomorrow morning.
