Cross Country Heads to Wartburg Invite Saturday

The Gustavus men’s and women’s cross country teams will be back in action tomorrow at the Wartburg Invitational.

SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s and women’s cross country teams will be back in action tomorrow at the Wartburg Invitational.

The Gustavus men’s cross country team has seen success this season as they have a No. 7 ranking in the central region in the latest USTFCCCA poll. In their first two meets of the season the Gusties finished second of four teams in the Crown Invite and fifth out of 23 at the Augsburg Invitational. In the Crown event, Alex Wischnack (Sr., Norwood, Minn.) was the Gusties top runner finishing fourth overall, and in the Augsburg event Andrew Stumbo (So., Boone, Iowa) finished 20th overall to be the first Gustie across the finish line.

Like the men, the Gustie women are also ranked in the USTFCCCA poll where they garnered a No. 10 ranking. The women finished first of two teams in the Crown Invite and 11th of 24 at the Augsburg Invitational. Lotus Schifsky (Sr., Prescott, Wis.) was the first place finisher in the Crown Invite finishing over 30 seconds before the second place finisher while Gabriela Passmore (Jr., Mapleton, Minn.) was the leader for the Gusties in the Augsburg Invitational finishing in 27th place overall.
