Women’s Soccer Travels to St. Thomas Saturday

The Gustie women’s soccer teams will head up to St. Paul on Saturday for a MIAC contest with St. Thomas that will start at 1 p.m.

SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustie women’s soccer team will head up to St. Paul on Saturday for a MIAC contest with St. Thomas that will start at 1 p.m. The Gusties are 4-2-1 on the season, with a 1-0-1 record in the MIAC, while the Tommies are 5-1-0 with a 1-0-0 record in conference.

Scouting the Gusties: The Gusties most recent action was a double overtime 0-0 tie versus Carleton on Wednesday. With the result versus Carleton, the Gusties put themselves into a tie for first place in the MIAC with four points.  The Gusties are led on offense by Abby Mullenbach (Jr., Lakeville, Minn.) who has scored 8 points this season on three goals and two assists. Chase Miller (Sr., Brooklyn Park, Minn.) and Emily Skogseth (Sr., Burnsville, Minn.) have also played well for the Gusties scoring six points apiece. Abby Goodno (Fy., Little Canada, Minn.) has been extemely solid in net for the Gusties tallying 39 saves in her five starts and allowing just five goals. Goodno is coming off a performance versus Carleton where she recorded 12 saves and allowed no goals.

Scouting the Tommies: St. Thomas comes into the contest ranked No. 19 thanks to a powerful offensive attack as well as stout defense to make it difficult on all opponents. They have outscored opponents by a total of 20-3 this season and outshot them by a tally of 110-46. The Tommies have had five different players score at least two goals this season with Megan Zickert leading the charge with three. Kate Heimer leads the team in points as she has scored two goals and tallied four assists. Olivia Elvidge has started five games in net recording 19 saves and allowing three goals en rout to a 4-1-0 record.
