Women’s Golf in Third After Day One

The Gustavus women’s golf team had a solid overall performance in day one of the Division III Classic posting a score of 315.

LAKE CITY, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s golf team had a solid overall performance in day one of the Division III Classic posting a score of 315. The Gusties trail the leader, Carleton, by 18 strokes heading into day two.

Emily Kratz (Fy., Edina, Minn.) is tied for first place in the event thanks to an excellent score of 71. Erin Ericson (Fy., Onalaska, Wis.) also had a solid round for the Gusties in posting a 78. Morgan Bleyhl (Jr., Elk River, Minn.) and Ellie Brandt (Sr., Wayzata, Minn.) both posted scores of 83 to round out the top four for the Gusties.

On today’s round, Head Coach Scott Moe said, “It wasn’t a bad day for us. It was extremely hot out and I know that we can play better. Emily had a fantastic round for us with three birdies on the back nine, she was just really solid all day. Erin played really well and battled for a 78 which I liked to see. Today our depth just didn’t show, but I have a feeling we will be better tomorrow.”

The Gusties continue play at the Divsion III Classic on Sunday morning.
