BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The men’s and women’s cross country teams travelled to Bloomington today for their second meet of the season. The women finished in 11th place out of 24 teams and the men finished in fifth out of 23.
On the women’s side the Gusties were led by Gabriela Passmore (Jr., Mapleton, Minn.) who finished with a time of 25:23.9. Passmore’s time rewarded her with a finish of 24th place overall in the meet. The other Gustie runner to finish inside the top 50 was Kourtney Kulseth (So., New Richland, Minn.), who ran a time of 25:38.9 that was good enough for 40th overall.
On the men’s side, Andrew Stumbo (So., Boone, Iowa) led the Gusties running a time of 28:10 that gave him 20th place overall in the meet. Alex Wischnack (Sr., Norwood, Minn.) also ran well for the Gusties finishing with a time of 28:26.3 and finished in 28th place overall. Jack Degonda (Fy., Marine on St. Croix, Minn.) rounded out the top three for Gustavus with a time of 29:11.7 that was good for 43rd place.
On today’s efforts Head Coach Brenden Huber said, “Both teams were really warriors today dealing with the heat. The men ran really well and also ran really smart. The women had some strong efforts despite some tough conditions. Overall, it was just a tough day for everyone competing. The runners who were the most patient today were rewarded with good results.”
The Gusties next meet will be on September 29th when they will travel to Waverly, Iowa for the Wartburg Invitational.
