LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Gustie men’s golf team finished their first meet of the season as they posted another solid round by shooting a score of 301. Over the course of the three rounds the Gusties shot a score of 883.
Carter Czichotzki (So., Moorhead, Minn.) was the low scorer today for Gustavus as he shot a 73 which moved him into 18th place overall. Ben Hauge (Jr., Ramsey, Minn.) once again had a solid day for the Gusties as he posted a score of 74 which put him at fifth place in the meet. Max Ullan (So., Blaine, Minn.) and Jacob Pederson (Fy., Minnetonka, Minn.) both shot 77’s on the day and Max Savini (Sr., Ramsey, Minn.) rounded out the group with a 78.
Of the team, coach Randy Stuckey said, “We were in a good position after yesterday but we came out a bit tight today and didn’t hit crisp iron shots, especially on par threes. We had some good looks at birdies but couldn’t convert them when needed. We did have a lot par saves with good chip shots and putts made which was good to see though.”
The Gusties will look to bounce back next weekend at the St. Thomas invite in Orono.
“This team has a lot of upside and we just need to keep moving forward,” coach Stuckey said.
