ST. PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus baseball team returns to action this weekend with two Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheaders versus Concordia and Macalester. The Gusties (11-12, 3-5 MIAC) will face the Cobbers (12-13, 5-5 MIAC) in Moorhead on Saturday prior to hosting the Scots (15-12, 5-5 MIAC) on Sunday during senior day.

Senior Day

A special tribute is made to the individuals who have dedicated themselves to Gustavus baseball throughout their collegiate careers. The Athletics Department, coaching staff, parents, and fans salute the seven student-athletes who have represented Gustavus with pride and class. Student-athletes honored on Sunday for their years of commitment include Will Burley (St. Louis Park, Minn.), Alex Eichner (Hamburg, Minn.), Cam Hufendick (Minneapolis, Minn.), Nolan Lepel (Plato, Minn.), Casey Lewandoski (Fairbanks, Alaska), John Lundquist (Rochester, Minn.), and Brock Peterson (Cannon Falls, Minn.)

Last Time Out

The Gusties traveled to Arden Hills, Minn. on Wednesday and were swept at Bethel University with 4-1 and 7-5 losses. The Royals’ John Leach hit two three-run homers to dagger Gustavus.

The Series

Saturday’s games will mark the 114th and 115th all-time meetings between the Gustavus and Concordia baseball programs, with the Cobbers owning an 60-53 series advantage. Concordia swept the Gusties last season in St. Peter with 1-0 and 9-5 wins. 

Sunday’s games will mark the 142nd and 143rd all-time meetings between the Gustavus and Macalester baseball programs, with the Gusties owning an 98-42-1 series advantage. Macalester swept the Gusties last season with 6-2 and 4-3 victories.
