WINONA, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s track & field team competed in its outdoor season opener on Thursday at the Saint Mary’s University Dingels/Brueggen Open from the SMU Outdoor Athletic Complex.
Four Gusties competed in the meet, with Bailey Van Den Heuvel (Jr., Mondovi, Minn.) turning in the top finish, taking fourth in the hammer throw with a outdoor career-high toss of 145-8. She also finished 14th in the shot put with a throw of 31-07.5.
In addition, Lily Anderson (So., Waterville, Minn.), Madison Carlson (So., St. James, Minn.), and Taylor Thompson (Fy., Millville, Minn.) participated for the Black and Gold.
Anderson finished 10th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:02.72.
Carlson finished 21st in both the discus and hammer with throws of 90-09 and 99-06, respectively.
Thompson competed in the 800-meter run and the long jump. She finished 13th in the 800 with a time of 3:03.67 and 19th in the long jump at 15-04.75.
Gustavus returns to action next Saturday, taking part in the Hamline University Invite in St. Paul, Minn.
