GREEN BAY, Wis. – The No. 10 ranked Gustavus men’s tennis team dropped a close 4-3 decision at Division I UW-Green Bay on Saturday afternoon, moving to 9-5 overall on the season. The Gusties claimed two of three doubles matches, but those counted for only one team point as Division I awards just one point for doubles. UW-Green Bay then won four of six singles to claim the slim victory.
“The team competed well today right down to the end,” Head Coach Tommy Valentini said. “We played some high level and strong tactical doubles to take the doubles point. In the singles we played hard and with great poise against a talented group. It’s never easy to come out on the short end of a 7-6 third set in the last match on, but the guys handled adversity well and lived out our values beautifully. We’ll hope to take a lot away from the match today and look forward to another great challenge tomorrow.”
