ST. PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus gymnastics team is set for a second consecutive Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference dual meet, traveling to La Crosse, Wis. tomorrow evening to take on the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
The meet between the Gusties (0-1, 0-1 WIAC) and the Eagles (0-1, 0-0 WIAC) is schedule to begin at 6:30 p.m.

Gustavus opened its 2018 season last weekend with a 181.275-175.8 loss against the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire at Sponberg Gymnastics Studio. Gustavus scored 44.975 on vault, 44.025 on bars, 43.175 on beam, and 43.625 on floor. Veronica Vasina (Jr., Arvada, Colo.) highlighted the Gusties with a second place finish on the bars, scoring 9.425. Leah Heilig (So., Bloomington, Minn.)also did well in two events, taking third in both the vault and floor with scores of 9.275 and 9.1, respectively. Amanda Malo (Jr., Greenwood, Minn.) was the team’s lone all-around competitor, taking first out of two with a score of 36.075. Her top events were the bars (9.225) and floor (9.0).
UW-La Crosse match up information:
- The Eagles opened their season last Saturday at the United State Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo. UWL finished with a team score of 191.350 while the U.S. Air Force Academy finished at 193.425.
- UWL finished in second of eight teams with a score of 189.700 last season at the WIAC Championships/NCGA West Regional.
- The Gusties hosted the Eagles during their final home meet of the 2017 season, falling 188.900-184.725 despite recording the fourth best total score in program history.
