ST. PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s basketball team is set to continue Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play in St. Paul, Minn. Monday evening at Macalester College. The Gusties (7-5, 5-2 MIAC) and the Scots (1-10, 0-6 MIAC) are set to tipoff at 7 p.m.
The Series
Monday’s game marks the 158th meeting between Gustavus and Macalester on the hardwood, with the Gusties holding a 103-54 advantage in the all-time series. The two teams split the season series last year, with Gustavus winning 83-68 in St. Paul, Minn. prior to the Scots prevailing 95-91 in double overtime at Gus Young Court.
Last Time Out
Gustavus bounced back from three consecutive losses, allowing a season-low scoring figure in the 62-52 win over Concordia College Saturday, guided by a strong second half and a solid defensive effort. Kelsey Thomas (Sr., Wiesbaden, Germany) led the Gusties with 16 points, shooting 4-9 from the field and 7-8 from the charity stripe, while Jason Faul (Sr., Prior Lake, Minn.) followed with 12 points, going 5-10 from the field.
About the Scots
In search of its first conference victory, Macalester has allowed at least 100 points in six consecutve games, most recently falling 115-96 against Hamline University. Although the Scots’ scoring defense has struggled, they rank atop of the MIAC with 8.1 steals per game and 3.9 blocks a game. Junior forward Wyatt Ferm leads the Macalester offense with an average of 14.9 points per game, while first-year forward Jackson Henningfield leads the team with 5.7 rebounds per game and averages 11.5 points per game.

- The Gusties matched their win total from last season with the Dec. 6 victory at Augsburg.
- The 4-0 start to conference play was the best since the 2014-15 season, in which Gustavus began MIAC action with a 5-0 start.
- Gustavus ranks atop the conference in scoring defense and three-point field goal defense, limiting its opponents to 64.5 points per game and a 29.2 percent mark from beyond the arc.
