ST. PETER, Minn. – The No. 7-ranked Gustavus women’s hockey team continues Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play this weekend, taking on Hamline University. Friday’s game in St. Paul begins at 7:15 p.m., while Saturday’s game at Don Roberts Ice Rink starts at 2 p.m. The Gusties most recently opened conference action last weekend with a sweep over St. Olaf College, moving to 3-0-1 overall. The Pipers also opened MIAC play with a series sweep, earning two wins over Saint Benedict to improve their record to 3-1 overall.

Scouting the Gusties: Gustavus has outscored its opponents 13-6 through its first four games, coming off a sweep over St. Olaf last weekend. Averaging 3.2 goals per game, two have came on the power play along with one shorthanded tally. Kaitlyn Klein (Sr., Plymouth, Minn.) and is tied for the goal-scoring lead in the conference with five goals and has one power play and two game-winning goals. Amanda DiNella (Jr., Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.) has started each game in net and owns a .927 save percentage and 1.51 goals against average.

Scouting the Pipers: After opening the season with a 3-0 loss against the No. 10-ranked University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Hamline has scored 19 goals in its past three games. The Pipers opened conference action most recently with 8-0 and 6-2 wins over Saint Benedict prior to a 5-2 victory over UW-Superior. Senior forward Sarah Bobrowski led Hamline, recording four goals and five assists in three games, en route to earning MIAC Women’s Hockey Player of the Week laurels. Bobrowski and Darby Dodds are tied for the scoring lead with nine points each, while goaltenders Annie Juergens and Mckenna Huslander have shared time, each starting two games. Juergens leads the conference with a .957 save percentage.
