ST. PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s and women’s cross country teams will compete in their final tune up Friday before the NCAA regional meet, taking part in the Saint John’s Fall Finale. The 5k meet begins at 5 p.m. in Collegeville, Minn. In addition to the Gusties, the field includes hosts Saint John’s and Saint Benedict, as well as Bethel, Crown, Hamline, Martin Luther, Minnesota, Minnesota-Morris, North Dakota State, St. Cloud State, and South Dakota State.
Last time out: The Gusties competed at the MIAC Championships last Saturday, hosted by St. Olaf, with the women taking fourth place and the men finishing eighth. Carleton won both the men’s and women’s conference titles.
Sadie Klug (Sr., Waseca, Minn.) and Andrew Stumbo (Fy., Boone, Iowa) earned All-Conference for the Gusties. Klug finished the women’s 6k race ninth in 22:54.6, while Stumbo crossed the men’s 8k finish line fifth with a season-best time of 25:52.4. Olivia Rosenow (Sr., Maple Grove, Minn.) earned All-Conference honorable mention with a 23rd place finish in 23:26.1
On the women’s squad, ranked No. 6 in the Central Region, Sarah Anderson (So., Roseville, Minn.) took 27th in 23:38.0, Tierney Winter (So., Waterville, Minn.) took 32nd in 23:49.2, Abigail Schnabel (Jr., Hamburg, Minn.) took 35th in 23:53.9, Kourtney Kulseth (Fy., New Richland, Minn.) took 40th in 24:08.0, and Gabby Passmore (So., Mapleton, Minn.) took 42nd in 24:10.4.
On the men’s side, Alex Wischnack (Jr., Norwood, Minn.) finished 36th in 27:01.5, Brennan Gustafson (Fy., Kasson, Minn.) took 43rd in 27:14.1, Ryley Sandberg (Sr., Alleman, Iowa) took 44th in 27:14.8, Ben Madigan (Jr., Kohler, Wis.) took 47th in 27:18.3, Nick Kerbeshian (Fy., Plymouth, Minn.) took 53rd in 27:35.5, and Bridger Pavelka (So., Minnetonka, Minn.) took 59th in 27:52.6.
