ROME, Ga. – Briana Hartmann (Jr., Owatonna, Minn.) won a two-hour, 40-minute consolation semifinal match against Rachel Summers of Mary Washington by a score of 5-7, 6-4, 4-1 (retired) Friday at the ITA Oracle Cup. Summers retired in the third set due to the heat and long points.
“Great battle today for Briana,” Head Coach Jon Carlson said. “It was a long match. It was a very hot and humid day, but her energy level seemed to rise the longer the match went on.”
Hartmann advances to the consolation final and will battle Kate Daugherty of Southwestern at 10:30 a.m. Saturday for fifth place.
