ST. PETER, Minn. – Gustavus women’s tennis player Briana Hartmann (Jr., Owatonna, Minn.) is set to compete in the ITA Oracle Cup on Thursday in Rome, Ga. The eight-player singles tournament features the eight regional champions from throughout the country. Hartmann will take on No. 1 seed Eudice Chong of Wesleyan at 9 a.m. EST Thursday. The winner will face the winner of Rachel Summer of Mary Washington and Claire Handa of Chicago.

To reach the ITA Oracle Cup, Hartmann won all six matches at the Midwest Regional, hosted by Gustavus on Sept. 22-24, capped by a championship victory over Jillian Wallace of UW-Whitewater 6-1, 6-1.

Formerly known as the Small College Nationals, the ITA Oracle Cup has history dating back to 1986, and it is the only singles and doubles national championship event for the Division III and NAIA levels. This year, more than 8,000 players took part in a total of 60 regional tournaments to gain entry into the ITA Oracle Cup field.
