Women’s Soccer Back To MIAC Action Saturday Hosting Bethel

ST. PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s soccer team returns to MIAC action Saturday as it hosts Bethel University at 3:30 p.m. The Gusties enter the match 7-3-1 overall and 3-2 in the MIAC, while the Royals are 4-5-1 overall and 1-4 in the league.


Scouting the Gusties: Gustavus has won two of its last three games, most recently shutting out UW-Eau Claire 2-0 on Wednesday. Judith Hepburn and Sophie Leininger scored the Gustie goals, while Ashley Becker made two saves in her 23rd career shutout. After 11 games this season, Chase Miller leads the team with nine points on three goals and three assists. Hannah Sturtz is second with seven points on three goals and an assist, while Emily Skogseth (2g, 2a), Lauren Johnson (2g, 2a), and Sophie Leininger (1g, 4a) have six points apiece. In goal, Becker has started all 11 games owns a 0.90 goals against average and .836 save percentage.


Scouting the Royals: Bethel most recently lost 2-0 to Saint Benedict last Saturday in a MIAC matchup. The Royals were outshot 14-6, while Kaylee Peterson made five saves. After 10 games this season, Maggie Sipe leads the team with 15 points on seven goals and an assist. Brooke Ogne (3g, 4a) and Sophie Kendall (4g, 2a) each have 10 points. Peterson has seen the most time in goal with a 1.18 goals against average and .703 save percentage.
