ST. PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s soccer team returns to Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action Saturday afternoon, hosting Bethel University in search of its fourth consecutive victory.

The Gusties (8-4-0 overall, 3-2-0 MIAC) and the Royals (3-6-2, 1-2-1 MIAC) are set to take the pitch at 1 p.m.

Gustavus most recently traveled to Aberdeen, S.D. for a non-conference match at Presentation College Tuesday afternoon, coming away with a convincing 4-0 victory. The Gusties outshot the Saints 31-3 and were led by a hat-trick performance by Arthur Parens (Jr., Wayzata, Minn.). Parens is the first Gustie since 2011 to record three goals in a game, registering his seventh, eighth, and ninth goals of the season. The Gusties’ leading scorer has now reached the 20-point plateau. The last Gustie to reach at least 20 points in a season was All-American Zach Brown in 2014.

  • Saturday’s matchup marks the 53rd all-time meeting between the Gusties and the Royals, with Gustavus holding a 33-11-8 advantage. The Gusties are currently riding a 12-game winning streak over Bethel, including a 2-0 win last season in Arden Hills.
  • The Royals most recently played to a 1-1 draw against Saint John’s University a week ago, moving its record to 3-6-2 overall and 1-2-1 during conference play.
