Women’s Golf Takes Part In NCAA Preview, Men At Saint John’s
The Gustavus women’s and men’s golf teams are back in action this weekend taking part in a couple highly-competitive tournaments. The women are participating in the NCAA Division III Preview in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla., while the men travel to Central Minnesota for the Saint John’s Invitational. The women’s NCAA Preview, which is a two-round tournament Sunday and Monday, features 12 of the top teams in the country, while the Saint John’s Invite, which is two rounds Saturday and Sunday, is a 17-team field with teams from Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Canada.
Women’s Soccer Hosts Home Opener, Charity Game, Saturday Against Concordia
The Gustavus women’s soccer team is set to host its home opener 3:30 p.m. Saturday against Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foe Concordia. The Gusties enter the contest 3-1-1 overall and 1-0 in the MIAC after defeating Carleton 2-0 Tuesday, while the Cobbers are 2-2-1 overall and 0-1 in the league after losing 1-0 against Saint Benedict on Tuesday.
Men’s Soccer Continues MIAC Slate Hosting Concordia
The Gustavus men’s soccer team continues Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play Saturday afternoon, hosting Concordia College at Gustie Soccer Field. The Gusties (3-3-0 overall, 0-1-0 MIAC) are set to take the pitch against the Cobbers (1-3-1, 0-0-1 MIAC) at 1 p.m.
Cross Country To Take Part In St. Olaf Invite Saturday
The Gustavus men’s and women’s cross country teams are set to compete in the St. Olaf Invitational Saturday. The men’s race begins at 10 a.m. followed by the women at 11 a.m. Last season at the St. Olaf Invite, the women placed 11th of 23, while the men finished 5th of 20.
Gustavus Tennis Gala Set For Oct. 7
The Gustavus men’s and women’s tennis programs are hosting the Gustavus Tennis Gala on Oct. 7 at the Swanson Tennis Center. The gala is open to all participants with at least a 3.0 playing ability. Flights will be announced Oct. 6, which will be divided according to ability. The gala begins with registration at 8:45 a.m. and competition starts at 9:30 a.m. An awards ceremony will take place at approximately 12:30 p.m.
Volleyball Set For UW-Eau Claire Tournament
The Gustavus volleyball team is set for another non-conference tournament, heading to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire for the Nike/Eastbay Fall Classic this weekend with four matches ahead.
Football Opens MIAC Slate At Augsburg
The Gustavus football team heads into Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action, heading to Augsburg University. The Auggies (2-0, 0-0 MIAC) host the Gusties (1-1, 0-0 MIAC) on Saturday afternoon at Edor Nelson Field.
Volleyball Sweeps Hamline In MIAC Opener
The Gustavus volleyball team defeated Hamline University in three sets during the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opener, Wednesday evening at Hutton Arena, improving its record to 8-1 overall and 1-0 during conference play.
Men’s Soccer Downed 1-0 In Overtime At Carleton
The Gustavus men's soccer team opened Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play Wednesday afternoon at Carleton College, taking the Knights into an overtime period and falling 1-0 to move its record to 3-3 overall and 0-1 in MIAC play.
Volleyball Opens Conference Play At Hamline
The No. 14-ranked Gustavus volleyball team travels to St. Paul, Minn., this evening, opening Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action at Hamline University.
