Cross Country To Take Part In St. Olaf Invite Saturday

The Gustavus men’s and women’s cross country teams are set to compete in the St. Olaf Invitational Saturday. The men’s race begins at 10 a.m. followed by the women at 11 a.m. Last season at the St. Olaf Invite, the women placed 11th of 23, while the men finished 5th of 20. 

ST. PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s and women’s cross country teams are set to compete in the St. Olaf Invitational Saturday. The men’s race begins at 10 a.m. followed by the women at 11 a.m. Last season at the St. Olaf Invite, the women placed 11th of 23, while the men finished 5th of 20.

The Gusties last weekend hosted their annual alumni meet at the Linneaus Arboretum. Going up against a number of alumni, Jeremy Gilbertson (Fy., Maple Grove, Minn.) crossed the line first for the current Gusties in 16:21.09 and second overall. Ryley Sandberg (Sr., Alleman, Iowa), Alex Wischnack (Jr., Norwood, Minn.), and Ben Madigan (Jr., Kohler, Wis.) followed with fifth through seventh place finishes, respectively, clocking times of 16:35.11, 16:36.06, and 16:41.25.

On the women’s side, Sadie Klug (Sr., Waseca, Minn.) took second place in 19:01.48. Sarah Anderson (So., Roseville, Minn.) placed fourth in 19:36.40 and Olivia Rosenow (Sr., Maple Grove, Minn.) finished fifth at 19:52.34.

In the Week 1 NCAA Division III women’s regional team rankings, the Gusties were voted No. 8 in the Central Region. It is the first time the Gustie women have been ranked in the regional poll since Week 7 of 2015.
