Alhouni, Whaling To Represent Men’s Tennis At NCAA Championships

The NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Committee has selected the individuals who will compete in the singles and doubles competition of the 2017 NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Championships, taking place May 25-27 in Chattanooga, Tenn. Mohanad Alhouni (Jr., Tripoli, Libya) will compete in the 32-individual singles draw, while the duo of Alhouni and Patrick Whaling (So., Manikob Sabot, Va.) will pair up in the 16-team doubles draw.

Three Gusties Named MIAC Women’s Golf All-Conference, Meierhenry Senior Of The Year

The Gustavus women's golf trio of Mae Meierhenry (Sr., Sioux Falls, S.D.), Jessica Nelson (Jr., Plymouth, Minn.), and Kristen Cash (Fy., Roseville, Minn.) earned spots on the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Conference team, while Meierhenry was also named the MIAC Senior of the Year, announced on Thursday by the MIAC office.

Three Gusties Named MIAC Men’s Golf All-Conference, Hauge Freshman Of The Year

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its men’s golf postseason awards Monday and three Gusties were recognized. Ben Hauge (Fy., Ramsey, Minn.) highlighted the awards as he was named MIAC Freshman-of-the-Year, while Chris Captain (Jr., Rochester, Minn.) and Alec Aunan (Jr., Rock Island, Ill.) join Hauge on the All-Conference Team.

Casey Lewandoski Named MIAC Pitcher Of The Week

Casey Lewandoski (Jr., Fairbanks, Alaska) appeared in three games and earned wins against Augsburg and St. Thomas. Throughout the week, Lewandoski threw seven innings of scoreless relief, allowing just three hits, while striking out four batters. The Fairbanks native tossed five innings of shutout baseball against St. Thomas in the season finale, earning the win in a 13-inning contest. Lewandoski dropped his season ERA from 3.64 to 2.95 and finished the year with 19 appearances, setting a new Gustavus program record for most appearances in a single season.

Women’s Tennis Heads To Chicago For NCAA Regional, Faces St. Norbert

The NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Committee has selected the 49 teams that will compete in the 2017 NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Championships. Gustavus (19-7) will compete in a seven-team regional, hosted by Chicago. Gustavus's first round match is against St. Norbert (23-11) Friday. Host Chicago has a first round bye, while teams in the region include Augustana (24-6), Coe (18-9), Kenyon (11-9), and Franciscan (13-4).

Men’s Tennis To Host NCAA Regional

The NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Committee has selected the 43 teams that will compete in the 2017 NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Championships. Gustavus Adolphus College will host a six-team regional Friday, May 12 through Sunday, May 14 at Swanson Tennis Center.

Women’s Tennis Advances To NCAA Tourney, Defeats Carleton For MIAC Playoff Title

For the second straight season, the No. 38 Gustavus women’s tennis team avenged a regular season loss to No. 37 Carleton by defeating the No. 1 seed on its home court for the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference playoff championship. The Gusties swept doubles and took two of four singles matches played to decision for a 5-2 victory, claiming the program’s seventh league playoff title since the MIAC initiated a postseason tournament in 2007.

Gustie Baseball Field Sent Off In Style, Gusties Top League-Leading St. Thomas In 13 Innings

The Gustavus baseball team played the last game ever at the natural-grass Gustie Baseball Field Saturday, and sent it off in dramatic fashion by upsetting league-leading St. Thomas 5-4 in 13 innings for a doubleheader split. The Gusties dropped the first game 6-5 before the thrilling extra-inning victory to finish the season 21-17 overall and 9-11 in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Tommies move to 24-13 overall and 16-4 in the league and may now have to share the regular season title with Bethel, pending the outcome of its doubleheader tomorrow.

A contingent of the Gustavus men’s and women’s track & field teams competed at Hamline’s Meet of the UnSaintly Saturday.

Men’s Tennis Earns Seventh-Straight MIAC Playoff Title

The No. 21-ranked Gustavus men's tennis team defeated the University of St. Thomas 5-1 Saturday afternoon at Swanson Tennis Center to claim its 10th overall and seventh-consecutive Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Playoff Championship.
