NORTHFIELD, Minn. – For the second straight season, the No. 38 Gustavus women’s tennis team avenged a regular season loss to No. 37 Carleton by defeating the No. 1 seed on its home court for the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference playoff championship. The Gusties swept doubles and took two of four singles matches played to decision for a 5-2 victory, claiming the program’s seventh league playoff title since the MIAC initiated a postseason tournament in 2007. Gustavus has received the MIAC’s automatic bid into the NCAA Championships and will find out who, when, and where it will play once the national tournament field is announced tomorrow on NCAA.com.

“It was an awesome match between two great teams today,” Head Coach Jon Carlson said. “I’ve never been as inspired as I was today by the effort from every single player on the team. It truly was amazing.”
