TEMPE, Ariz. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced the 2017 Division III regional award winners on Thursday, with Gustavus Women’s Tennis Assistant Coach Heidi Carlson receiving Central Region Assistant Coach of the Year honors.
Carlson, in her 21st season, helped guide the Gusties to a NCAA Tournament regional final as the Black and Gold finished the season with a 21-8 overall record and claimed its seventh program Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference playoff title.
“Heidi is very deserving of the award,” said Head Coach Jon Carlson. “She has been more than just an assistant coach, due to the fact that swimming & diving and tennis overlap for a month. She takes on a lot more of the head coaching duties during that time, is a huge key to our success, and is a great role model for the girls on the team.”
