BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Mae Meierhenry (Sr., Sioux Falls., S.D.) led the Gustavus women’s golf team to a second place finish over the weekend at the Washington University in St. Louis Spring Invitational en route to earning Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Golf Athlete of the Week.
Meierhenry carded scores of 72 and 77 to finish with a two-round total of 149, finishing nine-over-par to claim a runner-up finish individually and guide Gustavus to a team score of 624, finishing ahead of eight teams ranked higher than the No. 33-ranked Gustie squad.
Meierhenry stood in second place after round one, tying a career-low score of 72 (+2) as she tallied three birdies. Despite falling back five strokes on day two, she went two-over-par in the back-nine of the Golf Courses at Forest Park in the final round to solidify her runner-up crown.
