BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Katie Aney (Jr., Rochester, Minn.) and her teammates spent the weekend facing Division II and I opponents, with a great deal of success for the Division III squad. The Gusties went 2-1 while playing up, with wins over D-II Southwest Minnesota State (9-0) and Minnesota State-Mankato (7-2) while losing a hard-fought 5-2 match to Division I Drake to snap the team’s season-opening, 11-match winning streak. Aney won both her singles (6-3, 7-6) and doubles (8-1) matches against Southwest Minnesota State, and she won her doubles match (8-1) against Minnesota State-Mankato. Against Division I Drake she picked up the lone singles victory in a three-set thriller, 3-6, 6-2, 1-0. Aney holds a 12-1 singles record and 11-1 doubles marks with her lone losses coming during the Fall ITAs. She has yet to drop a match during the spring season. Gustavus is 11-1 overall and 4-0 in MIAC play this spring.
