MANKATO, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s track & field team competed at the Birdman Invite on Friday, hosted by Minnesota State University, Mankato, and took third place with 95 points. Gustavus was the only Division III school in a meet that included Division II MSU-Mankato, Sioux Falls, and Augustana. MSU-Mankato won the meet with 225 points, while Sioux Falls took second with 104 points.

Kayla Stowell (So., Le Sueur, Minn.) impressed in the 60-meter, taking fourth with a time of 7.91. Lily Anderson (Fy., Waterville, Minn.) took second in the 400-meter with a time of 1:01.84 and seventh in the 200-meter, crossing the line in 27.30. Abbie Schnabel (So., Hamburg, Minn.) took third in the 800-meter at 2:24.45. Emily Sands (Sr., Rochester, Minn.) and Olivia Crocker (Jr., Big Lake, Minn.) were the only two participants in the mile, finishing in 5:36.56 and 5:50.67, respectively. Siri Olson (Fy., Northfield, Minn.) took fourth in the shot put with a toss of 38-6. Bailey Van Den Heuvel (So., Mondovi, Wis.) took fourth as well in the weight throw, landing a distance of 42-9.5.

A select few Gustavus women’s runners will compete at the University of Minnesota Parents Day Invite tomorrow and then the whole team will prepare for the MIAC Championships, which takes place Feb. 23-25 in St. Paul.
