Men’s Tennis Splits Two Matches ln Washington Posted on February 4th, 2017 by

WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The No. 20-ranked Gustavus men’s tennis team fell 2-7 to No. 9 Pomona-Pitzer and won 7-2 against Pacific University Saturday on the campus of Whitman College to close out its first weekend of the 2017 spring season, moving its record to 1-2 overall.

“I’m very proud of how our entire team competed today,” said Head Coach Tommy Valentini. “We had some good looks at the doubles against Pomona-Pitzer and came up just short, but we responded beautifully with 3 of 4 first sets in the singles. Alhouni and Ekstein were able to stay poised and produced excellent wins. Against Pacific we took another step forward in the doubles and our depth provided a big lift for us given the challenging schedule we faced today. Overall we had a great trip to Walla Walla and made good progress on a lot of fronts.”
