ST. PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s hockey team continues Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with a series against Concordia College this weekend. The Gusties (10-5-2, 6-2-2 MIAC) host the Cobbers (11-5-1, 8-2 MIAC) Friday evening and Saturday afternoon at Don Roberts Ice Rink.

Last Time Out: Last weekend, Gustavus earned a series sweep over St. Olaf College. The Gusties won 3-0 Friday in Northfield, followed by a 7-1 win Saturday at Don Roberts Ice Rink. Emily Gustafson (Sr., Esko, Minn.) scored twice in Friday’s win, while seven different scorers told the story of Saturday’s victory.
Series Snapshot: Friday’s game marks the 40th all-time meeting between the Gustavus and Concordia women’s hockey programs with the Gusties owning a 35-2-2 record over the Cobbers. Over the last five seasons, Gustavus holds an 8-1-1 record against Concordia. Last season the Gusties went 1-1 against the Cobbers, most recently falling 6-5 in Moorhead.
About the Cobbers: Concordia most recently split a series with Augsburg College last weekend, winning 4-1 and losing 5-3. The Cobbers rank at the top of the conference along with Augsburg, each with a MIAC record of 8-2. They also rank first in the MIAC in goals per game (3.12) and power play goals (20). Senior forward Jess Nelson leads Concordia with 20 points off a MIAC leading 13 goals and seven assists. Senior netminder Andrea Klug has started in all but one game and owns and is the MIAC leader in saves with 383. Klug also ranks among the top-five goalies with a 2.24 goals against average.
400 Milestone: On December 3rd at the College of Saint Benedict, a 3-2 win marked the 400th all-time victory in Gustavus women’s hockey program history. The Gusties are the fastest team in the MIAC to reach the 400 mark.
Gustavus Notables:
– The Gusties had seven different scorers in the 7-1 win over St. Olaf on Saturday.
– Tegan Rodriguez (Fy., Sioux City, Iowa) tallied her first collegiate goal on Saturday, while Diana Draayer (Jr., Deephaven, Minn.) and Laine Fischer (So., Northfield, Minn.) recorded their first goals of the season.
– Nicole Abraham (Fy., St. Paul, Minn.) posted a career-high two points with a goal and an assist Saturday. Erin Moes (So., Hastings, Minn.) also notched a career-high three assists.
– Emily Gustafson scored a career-high two goals to lead Gustavus to a 3-0 win last Friday at St. Olaf.
– Erica Power (Jr., Lakeville, Minn.) posted three points in the St. Olaf series and is now the Gusties’ leading scorer with 11 points (4g-7a). Power is on a four-game point-streak with seven points (3g-4a).
– Gustie goaltenders Amanda DiNella (So., Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.) and Bailey Jackson (Fy., Chaska, Minn.) rank second and third in the MIAC in goals-against average. DiNella owns a 1.24 goals against average while Jackson averages 1.87.
