Tennis Teams Host Home Openers On Saturday
The Gustavus Adolphus College men's and women's tennis teams open their home schedules on Saturday at the Swanson Tennis Center. The men open the day with an 8:30 a.m. match against UW-Eau Claire, while the women round out the afternoon with two matches against Southwest Minnesota State and Sioux Falls University at 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., respectively. Women’s Basketball Goes For Season Sweep Of Hamline On Saturday
The Gustavus Adolphus College women’s basketball team takes on Hamline University on Saturday, Feb. 13 at Gus Young Court, with tipoff set for 3 p.m. The Gusties enter the contest with a 16-6 overall record and 11-4 mark in the conference, while the Pipers come into the game at 3-19 overall and 1-14 in the MIAC.
Men’s Hockey Wins Second Straight, 5-2 Over Bethel
The Gustavus Adolphus College men’s hockey team skated to a 5-2 victory over the Bethel University Royals on Friday night at Don Roberts Ice Rink. The game was tied 1-1 after the first frame, but the Gusties took off, scoring two second period goals, and netted another two in the third, earning a three-goal win over the Royals. The win brings Gustavus to 6-12-4 overall and 5-6-2 in the conference, while Bethel falls to 2-18-2 overall and 1-12-0 in the league.
Gymnastics Posts Season-High On Vault In Dual Loss To UW-La Crosse
The Gustavus gymnastics team dropped a dual meet at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on Friday evening by the score of 179.475-188.250. The loss drops to the Gusties to 1-4 in WIAC dual meets this season, while the Eagles improve to a league-leading 4-0.
Women’s Hockey Defeated By Bethel 3-1
The Gustavus Adolphus College women's hockey team suffered its second consecutive defeat on Friday evening, falling to Bethel University 3-1 at the Schwan Super Rink. The loss drops the Gusties to 8-10-4 overall and 7-5-3 in the conference, while the Royals improve to 11-9-2 overall and 9-4-2 in the league. Gustavus remains in fifth place in the MIAC standings with 17 points and still controls its own playoff destiny as it holds a three-point lead over sixth place Saint Mary's.

The Gustavus gymnastics team is set to take on the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse at 6:30 p.m. tonight in a dual meet. The Gusties are 1-3 in dual meets this season, while the Eagles have won five of six meets this year, including a first place finish at the 35th Annual Gershon/McLellan Invitation last Friday in La Crosse, Wis.

Women’s Basketball Clinches Playoff Berth With 77-40 Victory Over St. Olaf
After leading by six going into halftime, the Gustavus Adolphus College women's basketball team more than sextupled that lead by game's end and came away with a 77-40 victory over St. Olaf College on Wednesday evening at Gus Young Court. The win clinches the Gusties a spot in the six-team MIAC Playoffs that begin Feb. 23 and moves them to 11-4 in the conference and 16-6 overall. With the loss, the Oles fall to 7-8 in the league and 12-10 overall.
Men’s Basketball Drops Another Heartbreaker 82-80 At St. Olaf
Trailing St. Olaf by two points with six seconds remaining in the game, the Gustavus men’s basketball team had possession of the ball as Gary Cooper (Sr., Detroit, Mich.) advanced it up to Chris Narum (Sr., Eagan, Minn.). Narum pump-faked and dribbled over for an open look at a three-pointer, but his shot at the last second was blocked in a controversial finish, as some argue a foul was committed on the shot. Nonetheless, the Gusties lost 82-80 in another heartbreaking defeat, dropping to 9-13 overall and 6-11 in the MIAC, and have been eliminated from playoff contention.
