The Gustavus men’s soccer team secured the No. 3 seed in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Playoffs on Saturday with a thrilling 2-1 overtime victory at Hamline. Cody Billins’ (Fy., Farmington, Minn.) first career goal came with just five seconds remaining in the first overtime period to seal the victory in the regular season finale. The Gusties improve to 7-8-1 overall and 6-3-1 in the MIAC, and will host No. 6 seed Augsburg at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the first round of league playoffs.

Volleyball Falls In Close Five-Set Match At Saint Mary’s

The Gustavus volleyball team ended the regular season Saturday with a five-set loss at Saint Mary’s. The Gusties lost by set scores of 21-25, 25-21, 23-25, 25-17, 12-15, dropping to 21-7 overall and 9-2 in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Gustavus now prepares for the MIAC Playoffs as the No. 2 seed and will host the winner of No. 3 St. Thomas and No. 6 Concordia on Thursday.

Football’s Early Lead Results In 23-3 Victory At St. Olaf

An early 14-0 lead in the first quarter set the tone for the Gustavus football team’s 23-3 victory over St. Olaf on Saturday. The Gusties outgained the Oles 407-209 in total yards, while forcing the home team to punt seven times and commit three turnovers. Gustavus snaps a four-game skid in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, improving to 4-4 overall and 2-4 in the league, while the Oles fall to 2-6 overall and 1-5 in the conference.
