ST. PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus College women’s basketball team continues Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play Wednesday evening, hosting St. Olaf College at Gus Young Court. The 7-0 Gusties are set to tip off against the 2-5 Oles at 7 p.m.

Setting the scene: The Gustavus Adolphus College women’s basketball team continues Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play Wednesday evening, hosting St. Olaf College at Gus Young Court. The Gusties enter with a 7-0 overall record while the Oles are 2-5 on the season. Gustvaus most recently earned its seventh win of the season at Macalester College Saturday afternoon, defeating the Scots by a score of 81-60 to remain undefeated.
The series: Wednesday’s contest marks the 74th all-time meeting between Gustavus and St. Olaf with the Gusties holding a 49-24 record over the Oles. Last season, Gustavus downed St. Olaf by a score of 77-44 at Gus Young Court.
Scouting the Oles: St. Olaf has began the 2016-17 with a 2-5 record. The Oles most recently fell by a score of 69-51 at St. Catherine University last Saturday. St. Olaf averages 55.2 points per game and is led by senior forward Betsey Daly, who has averaged a team leading 11.2 points per game.

– The Gusties’ 7-0 start marks the best start of the season since the 2002-03 Gustavus squad began the season with a 13-0 record before suffering its first loss.
– The Black and Gold have outscored opponents by double figures in all seven wins this season.
– Gustavus ranks first in the MIAC in team field goal percentage (48.2), assists per game (18.7), and steals per game (16.1).
– In Saturday’s win at Macalester, the Gusties shot a season-best 10-14 from three-point range, shooting 71.4 percent.
– Mikayla Miller (Jr., Goodhue, Minn.) has now compiled 121 points this season, averaging a team-best 17.3 points per game. Miller just needs 20 points to break 1,000 total points in her career.
