Women’s Basketball Hosts Gustavus Classic

The Gustavus Adolphus College women’s basketball team hosts the Gustavus Class Tournament November 18-19, welcoming teams from Buena Vista University, the College of St. Scholastica, and Viterbo University. The Gusties take on St. Scholastica Friday at 6 p.m. and tip off against Viterbo at 3 p.m. Saturday.

The Gusties take on St. Scholastica Friday at 6 p.m. and tip off against Viterbo at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Last time out: In the season opener, Gustavus prevailed over Martin Luther College with an 82-50 victory. Miranda Rice led the Gusties as she recorded a career-high 26 points.

Scouting Buena Vista: Buena Vista, member of Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, began its 2016-17 season at Augustana University and fell by a score of 96-53.

Scouting St. Scholastica: St. Scholastica, member of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference, owned an overall record of 10-15 last season and was voted to finish fifth in the conference standings in the UMAC Presason Coaches’ Poll. Last Sunday, the Saints fell by a score of 72-69 in an exhibition game against the University of Jamestown.

Scouting Viterbo: Viterbo, member of North Star Athletic Association, has started the season with an overall record of 0-5. Viterbo most recently lost against Cardinal Stritch University and Indiana University Northwest last weekend.
