NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus College women’s cross country team turned in a 17th place finish of 32 teams at the NCAA Central Region Meet Saturday morning on the campus of Carleton College.
Gustavus tallied 438 points and averaged a 6k time of 24:18. MIAC foe St. Olaf College brings home first place with a team score of 91.
“The women competed pretty well because we moved from 11th at the conference meet to 17th at the region meet, said Head Coach Dale Bahr. “So if you look at the standings we were the eighth place team from our conference today, which means they ran better today than they did at conference. I’m excited to see that; they are definitely moving in the right direction.”
Like she has all season long, Sadie Novak-Klug (Jr., Waseca, Minn.) paced the Gusties as she turned in a team-best time of 23:16.1, good for a 31st place finish out of 218 total participants. For her performance, Novak-Klug was recognized as an All-Region honoree.
“Anytime we can put somebody up on the podium that’s a good thing,” Bahr commented. “Obviously were are looking for a few more, but it just wasn’t in the cards today.”
