ST. PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s and women’s cross country teams ran along side Gustie alumni Saturday morning at the Linneaus Arboretum on the campus of Gustavus Adolphus College. The Gustie men and women both placed ahead of the alumni.
Thomas Knobbe (Sr., Decorah, Iowa) finished first on the men’s side with a career-best 5k time of 15:53.2. The Gustie men took first place with 21 total teams points ahead of Saint John’s University and the Gustavus Alumni. Evan Jones (Sr., Pella, Iowa), Carston Dammann (Sr., Lake City, Minn) and Alex Wischnack (So., Norwood Young America, Minn.) finished in third through fifth place.
Alumni Marit Sonnesyn took the crown on the women’s side as she posted a time of 19:54.4. Sadie Novak-Klug (Jr., Waseca, Minn.) turned in a runner-up time of 20:25.1. The Gustie women finished 13 team points ahead of the Alumni.
Next weekend the Black and Gold cross country squads head to Northfield, Minn. to compete in the St. Olaf College Invitational on Saturday.
