Women’s Swimmer Kate Reilly Named Preseason All-American

CollegeSwimming.com announced its 2016-17 Division III Preseason All-America selections this week and Gustavus women’s swimmer Kate Reilly (Jr., Hastings, Minn.) was named to the All-America team in the 50 freestyle. Selections were based on the times of both returning and incoming swimmers with input from coaches and sports information contacts.

CollegeSwimming.com announced its 2016-17 Division III Preseason All-America selections this week and Gustavus women’s swimmer Kate Reilly (Jr., Hastings, Minn.) was named to the All-America team in the 50 freestyle. Selections were based on the times of both returning and incoming swimmers with input from coaches and sports information contacts.

“We are very excited for Kate’s junior year and that she is being recognized at the national level as a Preseason All-American,” Head Coach Jon Carlson said. “She represents Gustavus with class and pride and we couldn’t be happier for her. Kate has all the potential to make a splash both in our conference and at the national level.”

Last season, Reilly took second in the 50 free at the MIAC Championships with a time of 23.37 and then took 15th place at the NCAA Championships with a time of 23.64. Reilly’s personal best time in the 50 free is 23.25.

A total of 121 swimmers were selected as Preseason All-Americans. In all, 48 teams had swimmers named to the list.

The Gustavus swimming & diving team hosts it Alumni/Intersquad Pentathlon on Oct. 1 and then begins the season at home on Nov. 5 against UW-Stevens Point and MSU-Mankato.
