SKILLMAN, N.J. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) recently announced its 2016 Division III All-Americans and Gustavus’s top player Mohanad Alhouni (So., Tripoli, Libya) was named All America on the singles team for his performance during the fall season. Alhouni becomes the 51st Gustavus men’s tennis player to earn All America status and claims the 98th All America distinction in program history.

Alhouni won the USTA/ITA Midwest Regional Tournament on Oct. 5 in St. Peter, Minn. after not dropping a single set. The Tripoli native went on to take fourth place at the National Small College Championship held on Oct. 15 in Sumter, S.C. His regional tournament title and a first round win at the National Small College Championship automatically qualified him as an All-American.

Alhouni posted an overall record of 26-9 in singles play for the 2015-16 season, including a 15-7 record at No. 1 singles during the spring. The sophomore standout helped guide the Gusties to their 28th consecutive MIAC regular season championship as well as their sixth straight league playoff title. Gustavus ended its season with a loss in the NCAA region championship, finishing 25-8 overall.
