Track & Field Teams Compete at Meet of the UnSaintly

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus College men’s and women’s track and field teams took part in their final regular season meet before the MIAC Championships this weekend at the Hamline University Meet of the UnSaintly held at the Klas Track and Field Complex. The women’s team tallied eight top-5 finishes, while the men notched six. No team scores were kept at the meet.

On the women’s side, Anna Neeser led the way with a second place finish in the triple jump. Following Neeser, McKayla Stowell earned a third place finish in the 100 meter dash, Mikaela Algren took third in the 800 meter run, Lydia Hayes came in fourth in the 1500 meter run, Emily Sands took fourth in the 5000 meter run, Olivia Rosenow came in fourth in the 3000 meter steeplechase, and Kaitlin Bembenek took fifth in the 400 meter dash. The women’s 4×400 meter relay team of Bembenek, Hayes, Algren, and Abigail Schnabel also was a highlight, as the team took second.

In the men’s races, the 4×400 meter relay team of Sam ReMine, Ed ReMine, Alex Fredrickson, and Josh Curtis led the Gusties with a first place finish. After the 4×400 team, Fredrickson took fourth in the 800 meter run, Marcus Speca earned a fifth place finish in the 1500 meter run, Derek Huntley and David Schabelski took third and fifth respectively in the pole vault, and Troy Ektnitphong took fourth in the triple jump.

Both teams will be back in action May 13-14 at the MIAC Championship on the campus of Saint John’s University.
