Women’s Tennis To Compete In Midwest Invite Friday & Saturday

ST. PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus College women’s tennis team is set to compete in the Midwest Invitiational that is being held at the Nielsen Tennis Center in Madison, Wisconsin on Friday and Saturday. Eleven total teams are entered in the tournament draw, including several of the top teams from the ITA Central Region. The Gusties’ first round match takes place on Friday at 8 a.m. against Augustana College (Illinois), while remaining matches are to be determined based on tournament outcomes.

Ranked 11th in the Central Region and 39th in the nation, the Gusties are the eighth seed in the tournament draw behind No. 1-seeded Washington University-St. Louis, No. 2 University of Chicago, No. 3 DePauw University, No. 4 Denison University, No. 5 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, No. 6 Hope College, and No. 7 Kalamazoo College. Augustana, Carthage College, and Kenyon College are the other tournament entrants.

The Gusties are looking to improve upon their 1-3 record at last season’s Midwest Invite. After earning a first round win over Kenyon, the Gusties then fell to DePauw, UW-Whitewater, and Hope.
